Practical, Enriching Boarding Opportunities

Some private boarding facilities offer luxurious suites, but with only human-facing amenities like a couch or a TV, your pet is likely to be bored! Other boarding facilities may provide more dog-centric spaces, like cozy kennels, but don't also provide enrichment opportunities to keep pups' bodies and minds strong! Here at Kim's K-9, we take an approach based on rich training in dog psychology. We help pups who wouldn't otherwise thrive in our interactive program to enjoy a cozy, personalized solo stay, with unique enrichment tailored to their strengths and needs.

Solo Boarding Solutions

What kind of dogs benefit from private suite boarding?

Private suite boarding, also called solo boarding, or in our case, private enrichment-based boarding is good for dogs who wouldn't thrive in our interactive boarding program. These furry friends might be:

Too elderly to play
Anxious around other dogs
Dog-Reactive
Not yet neutered

Or have exceptional medical needs. If you aren't sure which is best for your pet, give us a call!

Private and peaceful, but never boring!

Kim’s K-9 is for every pup! We offer private suite boarding for solo-boarders who either won’t enjoy or are not a good fit for our group play. This may include dogs with special needs, dogs with dog-aggression, highly anxious dogs, and senior dogs who are too old to enjoy romping. But we aren’t just leaving them in a room all day! They can do that at home! When you send your solo-boarder to Kim’s, they’ll experience direct, one-on-one enrichment from our trained staff.

Basic enrichment is included with every stay:

  • Meals fed from enriching slow or puzzle feeders
  • Two 1-on-1 enrichment opportunities with staff per day
  • Extra and unique toys during private rest time

Our solo suites are all-inclusive and are not divided by levels of luxury. Each solo boarder with Kim’s K-9 receives the same dog-first enrichment experience.

Our Solo Boarding Philosophy

When we create a service at Kim's K-9, we put our pets first. While some kennel facilities build their packages around things humans like, such as couches and TVs or video calls with parents, we build our canine experiences around what dogs like. Based in canine psychology, our private boarding provides unique enrichment that your dog can’t get at home! Their stay with us will be a true puppy vacation, including dedicated time with our staff.

We believe so firmly in solo boarding enrichment that enrichment activities are INCLUDED in our private suite stays--they are not an add-on. Choose from enrichment activities such as:

  • Fitpaws course
  • Confidence course
  • Private play or snuggle time
  • And more!

Your fur baby will be safe with us. We keep strict vaccine regulations, even in private boarding, and our staff is trained to handle dogs with unique temperaments and needs, such as senior dogs with aging joints or anxious dogs who need a more gentle approach. We take private boarding seriously, which means there is NO dog-to-dog contact in our separate private boarding facility.

Wags, Woofs, and Laughs from our Friends

We have used Kim’s K-9 for training and boarding now for 3 different dogs. They are amazing!!! We never hesitate to board our dog knowing she will get playtime, attention, and be cared for the whole time. I can’t imagine NOT using them!!!

My dog loves it here. He always comes home tired which is a huge win. This is the third doggie day care we have tried and in my opinion it is the best bang for your buck.

This is the best doggy daycare in GR or the surrounding area. If you think of your dog as family, then this is the only place you can rely on to take care of him/her.

Bruce goes to daycare and he loves it and so do we. The staff is always so helpful and so kind it makes you feel good knowing that you’re leaving your pup in such good hands with everyone at Kim’s.

They were wonderful with quick and clear communication. Between the excellent service, the superior care they provide, and the low prices, Kim’s K-9 is most definitely the place to bring your pups.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my dog do while boarding?

In our solo boarding program, dogs receive personalized interaction with our staff with NO dog-to-dog contact, for the safety of all our private boarders. They will enjoy food from slow feeders and mentally enriching activities selected for their skills and preferences. Mental enrichment can be as fulfilling (and tiring) as a long walk! They will be given ample potty breaks and direct care from our expert staff.

How are the dogs divided into groups?

We have four playgroups here at Kim's K-9 for everyone's safety, they are: Rowdy Rompers (which is just what it sounds like), Mighty Mediums, Balance Buddies, and Tiny Tots. Some medium-sized dogs with a more rambunctious play style will land in our Rowdy Rompers group. Pets are divided by both size and energy level. Small dogs weighing 25 lbs or less are placed in Tiny Tots for their own safety. Even though lots of our Tots can play with the "big kids," it can pose a safety risk for them if the bigger dogs get too excited. Tiny Tots have equal access to enrichment, as well as indoor and outdoor play.

What is the VIP Program?

The VIP Program is a new monthly subscription program for our regular daycare attendees to get a little extra TLC beyond the woofs, wags, and laughs we already offer to the pups in our care, including priority booking! You can read more about our VIP Program on this page, or message us for more info!

What is the Pooch Pass?

The Pooch Pass is a unique boarding discount pass that can be purchased at the front desk or on the Gingr app. This pass allows our beloved clients to purchase 10 daycare stays ahead of time and receive the 11th day free. Contact us for more info!

Do you offer grooming?

We do not offer grooming at this time, but we do offer baths with a towel dry! Choose the "bath" add-on when booking your daycare stay, or email us directly and we'll get it set up.

What do I need to bring for boarding?

Provided your dog has up-to-date vaccinations per our standards and has passed their trial day (dogs who have not been to the facility in 6 months may require a re-trial prior to boarding), there are just a few things to pack! First, we can feed your pet IAMS food provided by the kennel on their usual schedule for $5 per day. You can also drop off an appropriate amount of food in a hard container and the $5/day will be waived. If your pet takes medication, bring in an appropriate amount and it will be administered by our staff to your pet.

Solo boarding parents may choose to bring in beds, toys, or blankets that their pets find comforting. Please be advised, if you do bring these items into Kim's K-9, we cannot guarantee their safe return, but there is a much higher likelihood due to the private and high-attention nature of the private boarding program.

Does my dog have to go through training to stay for boarding?

No, your dog does not have to graduate from our training program or any training program to board, as long as their unique play style and temperament are a good fit for our social groups here at Kim's. Dogs that do graduate from a training program at Kim's K-9 will benefit from our Kim's K-9 Family Discount, and receive shaping in line with our training program daily.

Can I call my dog on video to tell them goodnight?

Part of our philosophy at Kim's to let dogs be dogs includes refraining from offering activities that might confuse them. While you might enjoy seeing your furry friend's face, they do not understand where your voice is coming from! This can deepen feelings of anxiety. Instead, you'll receive daily updates on how your pet is doing through photo or video report cards of each enrichment activity.
