Play Time or Rest Time, It's the Best Time!

Our boarding program is crafted around safe, supervised group play. This is a great fit for social dogs who are not dog-reactive, and who love to play or nap in the company of other pets! We divide our rooms carefully by energy level and size to ensure each pup is safe while they’re here with us. Each day is filled with playtime, potty breaks, nap time, and lots of love from our staff.

For the safety of all pups, each dog that stays with us:

  • Has passed their free trial day
  • Is fully vaccinated per our strict standards
  • Enters and exits following our safe process

Puppies who go through our Puppy Kindergarten training and socialization program will be especially likely to enjoy group play. Get signed up for your trial day to introduce your pup to their new favorite place!

Our Doggy Boarding Philosophy

Dogs are our priority. We leverage our experience as canine professionals to treat dogs like dogs! This means giving them ample enrichment opportunities, monitoring group play, providing rest time to prevent over-exertion, and dividing rooms appropriately for safe play. We offer daily enrichment to all of the dogs in our care.

Enrichment in our interactive rooms can include:

  • Recall practice
  • Unique enrichment activities weekly
  • New challenges like play structures to jump on
  • Indoor and outdoor time

Your dog is a part of the Kim’s K-9 family, and they’ll feel like it! We give each pup love and attention that’s personalized to their needs so they’ll feel right at home. Our staff are trained to monitor play and provide engagement to keep your pups happy. We also report any abnormalities, such as stool issues, and are equipped to handle any emergency that may arise. Your pet will feel like they’re on doggy vacation when they stay with us at Kim’s K-9! And you can rest easy knowing they're in good hands.

We have used Kim’s K-9 for training and boarding now for 3 different dogs. They are amazing!!! We never hesitate to board our dog knowing she will get playtime, attention, and be cared for the whole time. I can’t imagine NOT using them!!!

My dog loves it here. He always comes home tired which is a huge win. This is the third doggie day care we have tried and in my opinion it is the best bang for your buck.

This is the best doggy daycare in GR or the surrounding area. If you think of your dog as family, then this is the only place you can rely on to take care of him/her.

They were wonderful with quick and clear communication. Between the excellent service, the superior care they provide, and the low prices, Kim’s K-9 is most definitely the place to bring your pups.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my dog do while boarding?

Our boarding program lets dogs be dogs! We give them structured play and rest time each day, with 4-6 hours of supervised playtime with our expert staff. Our staff will keep track of play, practice name recall with the dogs, and intervene as needed. When they're not romping with their pals, each dog has their own private kennel where they can rest comfortably. Dogs are given food provided by their people in a hard container (no bags accepted) at their regular meal times. Pups sleep in private kennels for their safety and comfort.

How are the dogs divided into groups?

We have four playgroups here at Kim's K-9 for everyone's safety, they are: Rowdy Rompers (which is just what it sounds like), Mighty Mediums, Balance Buddies, and Tiny Tots. Some medium-sized dogs with a more rambunctious play style will land in our Rowdy Rompers group. Pets are divided by both size and energy level. Small dogs weighing 25 lbs or less are placed in Tiny Tots for their own safety. Even though lots of our Tots can play with the "big kids," it can pose a safety risk for them if the bigger dogs get too excited. Tiny Tots have equal access to enrichment, as well as indoor and outdoor play.

What is the VIP Program?

The VIP Program is a new monthly subscription program for our regular daycare attendees to get a little extra TLC beyond the woofs, wags, and laughs we already offer to the pups in our care. You can read more about our VIP Program on this page, or message us for more info!

What is the Pooch Pass?

The Pooch Pass is a unique boarding discount pass that can be purchased at the front desk or on the Gingr app. This pass allows our beloved clients to purchase 10 daycare stays ahead of time and receive the 11th day free. Contact us for more info!

Do you offer grooming?

We do not offer grooming at this time, but we do offer baths with a towel dry! Choose the "bath" add-on when booking your daycare stay, or email us directly and we'll get it set up.

What do I need to bring for boarding?

Provided your dog has up-to-date vaccinations per our standards and has passed their trial day (dogs who have not been to the facility in 6 months may require a re-trial prior to boarding), there are just a few things to pack! First, we can feed your pet IAMS food provided by the kennel on their usual schedule for $5 per day. You can also drop off an appropriate amount of food in a hard container and the $5/day will be waived. If your pet takes medication, bring in an appropriate amount and it will be administered by our staff to your pet.

Some pet parents bring in beds, toys, or blankets that their pets find comforting. Please be advised, if you do bring these items into Kim's K-9, we cannot guarantee their safe return. Just because your dog is not a chewer doesn't mean someone else's won't take a turn!

Does my dog have to go through training to stay for boarding?

No, your dog does not have to graduate from our training program or any training program to board, as long as their unique play style and temperament are a good fit for our social groups here at Kim's. Dogs that do graduate from a training program at Kim's K-9 will benefit from our Kim's K-9 Family Discount, and receive shaping in line with our training program daily. For example, when dogs in our care have learned “wait” in our training program, we ask them to “wait” at each open door to help maintain that training. As a bonus, it keeps everyone safe and prevents bolting through open doors!

Can I call my dog on video to tell them goodnight?

Part of our philosophy at Kim's to let dogs be dogs includes refraining from offering activities that might confuse them. While you might enjoy seeing your furry friend's face, they do not understand where your voice is coming from! This can deepen feelings of anxiety. Instead, we offer report cards and photo opportunities to see your pup playing! Check them out in Gingr when you book, or call us for more info.
